According to the records of the First Church of Roxbury, by John Eliot, he came to America in 1637.

The homestead of Thomas Ruggles and his descendants was on the south side of the First Church, and included the hill where the lower Roxbury fort stood. The property extended from Dudly Street beyond Cedar on the south, and from the NorfolkHouse to Center Street on the west.

Thomas Ruggles waw freeman of Roxbury on 22 May 1639.
