[] Genealogical Research in England p.64-65 [Jan.1911]: SEARLES, Elizabeth, bept. 8 June 1590; bur. at Chesham 22 Feb. 1633-4, m. there, 11 Oct. 1613, William Preston, b. abt. 1590, who was a churchwarden at Chesham in 1617. In 1635 he m.(2) Mary Seabrook, b. abt 1600, dau of Robert who lastercame to New England, and in Sept. 1635 came to New England in the 'Truelove' with his second wife and four youngest children by his first wife, viz. Elizabeth, aged 11, Sarah, aged 8, Mary, aged 6, and John, aged 2 (see Hotten's "OriginalLists," p.131). He located first at Dorchester, Mass, and later settled at New Haven, Conn., where he had several children by his second wife, and d. abt. 1647. There were other Preston familites at Chesham, but no connection with WilliamPreston has yet been established. Children recorded in Chesham: - William, bapt. 5 Oct 1614; bur 4 June 1633.
- John, b.abt. 1617; bur.24 Nov. 1623.
- Edward, bapt. 14 nov 1619; preceded his father to New England, coming in the 'Christian' in Apr. 1635, aged 13 [should be 15](Hotten's "Original Lists"p.43); settled at New Haven and later at Boston.
- Daniel, bapt. 3 Mar 1621-2;came to New England, aged 13, with his uncle Edward Sale (Searles) in the 'Elizabeth and Ann' in Apr. 1635 (see Hotten "Orig.List" p.70), and settled at Dorchester.
- Elizabeth, bapt. 23 July 1624; came to New England with her father; m. Joseph Alsop.
- Sarah, bapt. 23 July 1626; came to New England with her father; m. William Mix.
- Mary, bapt. 13 Dec 1626?; cameto New England with her father.
- John, bapt. 4 Mar. 1631-2; came to New England with his father.

HISTORY: Edward Searle and Elizabeth Gifford had nine children of their marriage recorded at Chesham, England. The first child was Elizabeth Searle aka Sale, bapt. 8 June 1590; bur at Chesham 22 Feb 1633/4; m. there, 11 Oct 1613 to William PRESTON bc1590, who was churchwarden at Chesham in 1617. In 1635 he m. 2nd Mary SEABROOK bc. 1600, d/Robert who later came to New England, and in Sept. 1635 came to new england in the 'TRUELOVE' with his second wife and four youngest chidlren by hisfirst wife, viz. Daniel bapt 3 Mar 1621-2; came to NewEngland, aged 13, with his uncle Edward SEARLE/SALE in the "ELIZABETH AND ANN' in Apr 1635 (see HOTTEN"S LISTS p.70), and settled in Dorchester; 5.
