At a town meeting May 19,1670 Nathaniel Chaffe was chosen Constable. Nathaniel contributed 3lbs. 16s 6d to the war fund of King Phillip's War. (Bliss History of Rehoboth) The first blood was spilled at Rehoboth and the stern and intrepid oldwarrior and councillor Annawon was captured within the present limits of Rehoboth.

Book of Attleborough Records of North Purchased lands belonging to Rehoboth under date 1672 page 155; The bounds of lands of Nathanial Chaffe are 60 acres of land purchased of Obediah Brown Sir, also 12 1/2 acres and 10 more acres purchased fromJohn Marlin. This land was later in the town of Attleboro. Nathaniel was a blacksmith and a metal worker. Signatures of Nathaniel and Thomas Chaffe are on Page 13 from a book signed Nov 13, 1695. []
