@ NEW GENEALOGY; John Gifford, bricklayer, was buried at Chesham 30 December 1605. His wife, Joane, was buried 12 October 1620. Chidlren recorded at Chesham: 1. Elizabeth Searle, b. abt. 1567; m. at Chesham, 20 October 1589 to Edward Searle(Sale); 2. Thomas Searle, bapt. 28 Aug 1569; m. at Chesham 25 Sept. 1592, to Anne Dell, dau of Robert Dell; 7 ch. bapt at Chesham.

@ NKT: It appears that the LDS computer 1991 information, which was copied while I was in Reno, NV in 1993, appears to indicate that Abigail-1606, who married NKT's grandfather William Carpenter-1605, was the daughter of Edward Searle (Sale)and Elizabeth Gifford. My recoreds indicate that Edward Searle (Sale) and Elizabeth Gifford also had a son Edward, born 1609 who married 1636 to margaret -----, and that this Edward Searle (Sale and margert's daughter, Miriam Searle (1634-1722)married the son of William Carpenter-1605 and Abigail ----- -1606. That would mean that Deacon William Carpenter married his first cousin Miriam Searle! NKT has not been able to find any reference, additional to that in the LDS computer, toverify, in fact, that Abigail b.1606, was the daughter of Edward Searle and Elizabeth Gifford, and sees it as a possible error made by somebody submitting undocumented information to the LDS computer.
