" I was given a little information on the Speetzen family by Harold, my mother's cousin. He was 93 in '91 and I think he died last year as we had no word from or of him last Christmas. Harold's mother was the second wife of Carl Speetzen andwas a catholic. She raised Harold to be a priest and he was until the thirties. As I was told he married a woman he met on board ship comming back from Gremany. Your father probably knows more than I do as he used to visit Harold out inClayton, I think. I know we used to visit Harold and I loved to go there as he and his mother lived in a (to me) wonderful adobe house. Harold's wife died a short time after they were married so from then on he lived with his mother. When shedied he went back into the church but that is another story. Harold visited the original home of the Speetzens in Bosau, near the Ploner See in Schliswig, Germany. He also visited cousins who lived in Lubeck befor WWII. Harold had 2 stepbrothers, Arthur and Raymond, and one stepsister, Lucy. Harold kept up with his german cousins right to the end. "
